Meghan Sobocienski, Executive Director

Meghan Sobocienski is a CoFounder and Director of Grace in Action Collectives in Southwest Detroit. A 4th generation Detroiter who spent her early years living in Detroit’s conservative northern suburbs, much of Meghan’s life has been shaped by differences in equity, access and politics. Meghan spent 5 years as a Community Organizer with the PICO (Faith in Action Network), and 5 years working as a Co-Organizer for the Organizing for Mission Cohort (Network) through the ELCA. Nearly a decade ago,  she began her journey supporting Detroiters in building cooperatives. Today, this network of Cooperatives, is a strong community based economic structure that resists oppressive and racist systems impacting neighborhoods. She has lead the growth and evolution of Grace in Action Collectives through the past 8 years. Meghan studied liberation theology and social ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley CA and is an ordained Deacon in the Lutheran church (ELCA). She is a mom, a swimmer, and plays a mean game of Mario Kart.
